After a night of drunken debauchery, lazy antique dealer Bjorn Thonen awakes to find that he's been robbed. Puzzled and not quite sure why anybody would want to rob him of all people, Bjorn sets out to find out more. Since the police are unwilling to help, he takes matters into his own hands and stumbles into quite the adventure. And that's just the start of Demetrios - The BIG Cynical Adventure, created by solo developer Fabrice Breton. You'll spend a lot of time wandering the static screens, using things on other things, and, well, being a bit of a jackass, really.
Bjorn is not exactly perfect son-in-law material, but he's amusing all the same. However, his cynicism and general verbosity can wear a bit thin after a while, so your mileage may vary. Still, this is a big meaty game, and true to the spirit of old school adventures, there are many different ways for you to mess up and die. In my defense, sticking a finger in that electrical socket seemed like a good idea at the time! However, Demetrios is pretty forgiving, letting you continue from right before you had these "good ideas." There is a generous demo version available for you to try and see if this one tickles your fancy.
Demetrios - The BIG Cynical Adventure is available for $9.99 on itch.io, Steam, or directly from the developer. For more information on the game and developer COWCAT, you can head to their website or follow them on Twitter.
